Why Picky Art Gallery?

“As far as I am concerned, a painting speaks for itself.  What is the use of giving explanations, when all is said and done?  A painter has only one language.”

~ Pablo Picasso

Online original artworks gallery PickyArt.com is a perfect space to explore and celebrate art, find new artists and purchase their works – all at one place.

Our original artworks gallery presents you with an opportunity to discover internationally talented emerging and established artists. Some of them you might not even  heard of yet. In today’s competitive art market the challenge is to identify work that is under-appreciated or overlooked.  Our artworks gallery offers only original, author signed works of art that will put flesh to any collection, any interior and any taste. No reproductions, limited edition prints, giclees, no mediocre artists, only most talented, pure hand made and distinct collections. We honestly believe that art chosen solely on the basis of price will yield a mediocre collection that does not necessarily hold its value as years go by. It is collections formed with passion and intelligence that stand the test of time, both aesthetically and monetarily.

Original paintings, one-of-a-kind artworks you can find in our gallery are  very carefully selected by our professional experts. That is why we usually exhibit up to 50 artists at a time, not more. The reason is  simple – we strive to represent every artist on our gallery with all the attention and care he deserves. We want to create an atmosphere of an actual gallery, not an average art shopping center.

Why buy art online?

There are a lot of myths and fears about online art galleries. One of the biggest fears is that you can easily be deceived, lose your money and get an artwork that does not even look close to what you thought you were buying. Very often this negative opinion is formed by regular gallery (not online) owners. They simply fear to face new competition. But in today’s World of technologies and Internet, a place where we buy almost anything, it is rather irrational to claim that Art, for some reason, should be excluded from online marketing. We understand that unlike books or appliances, most artworks are unique and  you will not always want to simply pop the item into your online “shopping cart” and proceed to “checkout”. So if you have any uncertainties after  you have located an artwork, painting or artist that interests you, email us and ask questions about provenance, other works by the same artist that might interest you more, get a description of the condition and any other information. After you gathered all the information and feel ready to purchase the Artwork we will send an estimate, invoice with all details about shipping and etc. We will send the work on approval for a specified period of time (14 days), so you can see the work in person and decide whether you like it or not.

When you decide to purchase an original artwork, painting, the most difficult and complicate part is to find time to visit different galleries, find an artist and choose a painting. And what if your selected artist resides and exhibits in another corner of the World? That’s why you need an online artworks gallery, to make every artist and every painting attainable. Our goal is to help you explore the World of Art without leaving your home or office.

For more information about purchasing online please read section How to buy?

Why buy an original Artwork?

A work of art is a product of human genius. The work of a great artist can touch our emotions and make us understand things about the World and about being human, about shapes and about color. As John Updike once said: “What art offers is space – a certain breathing room for the spirit”.

A work of art can give you pleasure everyday of your life. One should never stop finding new aspects within a work and new responses to the work. In buying a work of art from us we hope it will give you pleasure and fulfilment every time you look at it in the same way a great piece of music does every time you listen to it, or a great novel every time you read it.

The difference between a work of art and a novel or a piece of music is that you are the only person in the world to have that work of art (although in the case of a non-original graphic you may have to share that pleasure with another hundred or so people). This uniqueness contributes to the powerful economic value of a work of art, and for a whole complex of reasons and over time, the works of certain artists become more highly esteemed and desirable than others, therefore creating the varying market values of different works by different artists.

Our Artists

Currently we exhibit mostly Lithuanian artists. As it was mentioned before, to us it is very important to identify and present works that are currently for some reason under-appreciated or overlooked. Lithuania has so many talented artists with original tasteful ideas, distinct styles, artworks that stand the test of time. Unfortunately not many know Lithuanian artists and their works. That is why we decided to pay tribute to the art of Lithuania and introduce you to its best creators. Hope you will enjoy and appreciate this exhibition as much as we did.

Enjoy exploring our gallery and finding your perfect piece of Art!
